strategic research
Oystershell's strategic research is aimed at innovation of para-pharmaceutical products, more specifically non-medicinal products with a health claim.
We innovate in three aspects: ingredient, formulation and packaging (or form).
- In ingredient research we have considerable expertise of natural ingredients. Our natural sample database of > 3000 extracts, plants and ingredients often serves as the starting point for biological screenings.
- In formulation, we often look for resourceful solutions for patient-unfriendly situations. We love to experiment with new galenic forms.
- In packaging, our cooperation with associated designers has taught us that 'form should follow function'. In consumer health packaging often leaves a lot to be desired.
As a small company Oystershell focuses on limited but significant improvements in consumer products. Our team members are trained to look out for niche products that have stayed with a certain technology for too long. At the other hand, we love the adagio that "Something new is something old we've forgotten". This is often true.
Except for a formulation laboratory and a large library of natural sources and lead compounds, Oystershell does not have an in-house technology platform. Our research plans are always built around internal ideas and external task partners. University labs and research partners are actively encouraged to enroll in our cooperation plans (see pipeline).
