1979
Oystershell was established to import and export oyster shells to supply the all-natural calcium and minerals needed to help hens produce eggs.
2002
A team of young bioengineers and pharmacists, led by Bart Rossel, acquired the company. Sharing a passion for science, business and innovation with a strong focus on consumer health. In the same year, the team kicked off by formulating a natural anti-insect spray based on Pyrethrins.
2017
Rivean Capital, previously named Gilde, acquires a controlling stake in Oystershell along with a majority of the management

Oystershell acquires RID, a leading lice treatment brand in the USA.

Wart & Skin Tag Treatment
- In the past, spray cans containing a cold mix of propane and ether were used to freeze warts at home. But this type of freezing therapy does not result in the extremely low temperatures required to freeze the core of the wart or skin tags. With a strong focus on engineering & design, Oystershell managed to deliver world’s first safe, highly effective, cryogenic device for the treatment of warts at home. Requiring fewer treatments and causing less discomfort.

Liquishell & smart supplements

Liquishell is a centre-filled gummy format that combines a chewable outer shell with a liquid core, allowing fast absorption, protection of heat-sensitive actives and unusually high liquid loading. The system can carry water-based liquids and pre-solubilised ingredients, is fully customisable in flavour and colour, and is vegan. It supports both OTC and VMS applications, and commercialisation has begun under own brands and partner agreements.
The same formulation discipline is applied to Oystershell’s magnesium tablet that combines a highly soluble organic magnesium salt with a functionalised inorganic salt to reach high loading without slowing dissolution.
